Hello everyone, I am back! I went to the DWatson Company in Karachi. There, I came across the BIODERMA advertisement and their line of products and now available in the store.
I was excited to be honest because it’s a good company for skin products. They have a wide range of products for every skin type. I saw products for ultra-sensitive skin, very dry, just dry, oily, acne prone. I’m sure you get it. It is essentially a jack-of-all-trades. They have products for every type of beauty care you might need, briefly speaking.
In the three different weeks that I went to DWatson, new products arrived. The first time I went, they only had a face wash and sunscreen. They are slowly bringing more-and-more products from different skin care lines; I have yet to see which ones are in high demand and most sold.
Their products are so good that my mom used them. She is quite difficult to impress and she had a few good words to say about her experience. They have this H2O micellar water, which is something like rosewater except it is not as drying and made for our skin’s PH. My mother, who has very sensitive skin, cannot handle anything that smells, anything that is too oily, so those of you who also suffer from this I would 100% recommend their micellar water if you are looking for an alternative for a cleanser.
Now, my skin is hyperpigmented (has brown spots); it’s oily, acne, blackheads and sensitive to top it off. I know I got the short end of the stick but I have never been one to let a situation defeat me. I mean, just because I was not born with perfect skin it does not mean I need to stop loving myself.
With that said, here are the products I tried:
Note: These are the specifications from the official international website.
Both products are for acne prone skin, oily/combination skin – BIODERMA Sebium facewash and BIODERMA SPF 30 sunblock. Both are in Rs. 2,000-3,000 price range, which I admit is expensive. I have tried other creams in the market, which are cheaper, but this is still better than those are and it’s worth for the following reasons:
BIODERMA is a French company, so they have to comply with international quality guidelines. Therefore, keep in mind that they have to go through rigorous quality testing before their products can go into the market.
You can be sure that they do not have any questionable/toxic material, which can burn your skin or scar it. The most that will happen is an allergic reaction. In that case, stop using the product immediately, and rush to the doctor. The other bad thing that can happen is your skin to break out with acne, in that case also stop using the product.
The Facewash – BIODERMA Sebium Face Wash
- It cleaned completely tightening my pores
- It was very drying if used alone
- Very refreshing, it made me feel like I could be actually waking up
- Not a lot needed to wash the face, just a dot on the index finger
The Sunblock – BIODERMA SPF 30 Sunblock
- It was not too oily and not too dry it had a balance
- Does not cause breakouts
- You have to remove it at the end of the day though if you don’t then you will break out
- You must use it with a moisturizer because it’s not enough to counter the dryness that the face wash
Important Notes
Avoid using too much and make sure you tap the cream into your skin to smoothen it. Otherwise, you’re going to have noticeable white lines of sunblock.
Something that you should keep in mind is that these products have a fragrance. Therefore, if you are allergic to those then I would not suggest using these products.
I know this is not entirely in connection with the products I have reviewed but it still worried me. When I went shopping for creams, I saw many women going to other shops buying creams. They were products from unknown and questionable brands. What you are doing is dangerous especially because many of those products can contain toxic chemicals, which are harmful to your skin.
I know, creams and face washes are expensive but ruining your skin is not worth saving a few rupees. Go to the dermatologist because they are professionals and they know what they are doing. If you are not willing to then, buy creams from recognized brands. One of the easiest ways to know if a brand is solid is if you can read all the ingredients on either the packaging or the bottle of the cream itself. If you cannot then chances are the cream has toxic material, it’s fake, and a hazard to your skin and health.
Overall, I can say for sure that I will be buying these products again. Why? Well, it’s because even though they might not be the best products I have ever used, they do not irritate my skin. This is a huge problem that I often encounter while using other products. While they haven’t removed my hyperpigmentation spots, they are fading slightly which the best.
So What Is My Final Rating?
BIODERMA Facewash scores 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. As I said before it is an amazing product. It cleans very well without much liquid needed to clean my face. Moreover, it leaves my skin refreshingly clean. However, it is very drying for my skin that is for sure.
BIODERMA Sunblock scores 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. It is a good product in the sense that it does last for an average of 3 to 4 hours when I go outside, it has good texture (not too oily nor too watery) but at the same time, it can cause my skin to break out sometimes and to be honest I did not like the fragrance. It smells good but the smell does not feel good on the skin.
