Not everyone is a fan of scary movies, but those who love them simply wait every year for the best horror movies list. Last year was particularly a good one for scary movie lovers. Movies like Get Out, IT, and Annabelle received a lot of praise from the viewers and the critics.

Well, there is still more good news for all the horror movies lovers. 2018 seems quite promising, as there are some best horror movies lists we are looking forward to watching. Here are some released and much awaited upcoming horror movies. So let us dive in to find out the best horror movies lined up for 2018.

A Quiet Place

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt star in A Quiet Place. It is an American horror film by Paramount pictures and been directed by and co-written by John Krasinski. The plot of the movie revolves around a family that lives an isolated life in complete silence. The fear of attack by an unknown creature that hunts at any sound lingers. The film’s premiere is at South by Southwest on 9 March 2018. The movie got positive praises for its feel, performance, and direction. A Quiet Place will release in the United States on 6 April 2018. The cast of A Quiet place also includes Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.

The Strangers: Prey at Night

Is an American horror movie directed by Johannes Roberts. This movie is a sequel to 2008’s movie The Stranger. Bryan Bertino is the director and co-writer it. The plot of the movie revolves around a family that is spending the evening at an abandoned mobile home park, who had three masked psychopaths as visitors. The movie released in the United States on 9 March 2018 and has mixed reviews from the critics. The movie stars are Christina Hendricks, Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman, and Martin Henderson. It had to be number one on our best horror movies list.

Insidious: The Last Key

Is the fourth movie of the Insidious franchise. It is an American supernatural horror movie written by Leigh Whannell and directed by Adam Robite. While it may be number one on some lists, it is the second in our best horror movies list. The story was in chronology with the previous part. The plot of the movie revolves around a Parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier. She investigates the most terrifying and personal haunting in the house where she grew up. Universal Pictures released the movie in the United States on 5 January 2018. It earned $165 million worldwide becoming the highest earning movie of the franchise. The cast of the movie includes Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson, Hana Hayes, and Ava Kolker.

The Nun

From Warner Bros Pictures is number three on our best horror movies list. We will be witnessing another supernatural horror movie. The Nun is the third installation from The Conjuring Series. Gary Dauberman wrote the screenplay of the movie from a story by Dauberman and James Wan. The movie will release on 7 September 2018. The plot of the movie is a sequel to The Conjuring 2. The story revolves around a nun, sent by the Vatican to investigate the mysterious death of a nun. She confronts, Valak, a demon who has taken the form of a nun. The cast of the movie includes Taissa Farmiga, Ingrid Bisu, Demian Bichir, Charlotte Hope, and Bonnie Aarons.

Winchester: The House that Ghosts Built

Is an American-Australian co-production supernatural horror movie directed by Peter Spierig and Michael Spierig. The story is by Spierigs and Tom Vaughan. The plot is around the Heiress Sarah Winchester played by Helen Mirren. Sarah believes that she is been haunted by the spirits of people in her California Mansion, who were killed by Winchester repeating rifle. The cast of the movie includes Helen Mirren, Jason Clarke, and Sarah Snook. So far, this movie is the fourth on our best horror movies list.

The movie released in the United States on 2 February 2018 and on 22 February 2018 in Australia. It did a business of $33 million worldwide. The movie did not manage to garner any positive reviews; the critics reviewed the movie as dull and pointless.

Annihilation

Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac star is an American sci-fi horror film by Paramount Pictures. Alex Garland wrote and directed this movie. It is based on the novel written by Jeff Vander Meer. The plot of the movie follows a group of military scientists who sign up for a dangerous and mysterious expedition, The Shimmer. Here, there are no laws of nature. The movie released on 23 February 2018 in the United States and on 12 March 2018 by Netflix. The cast of the movie also includes Tuva Novotny, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson, and Gina Rodriguez.

The movie has garnered positive reviews from the critics, for the visuals, performance, provocative story, and direction. It deserves to be fifth in Lifestyle Glitz’s best horror movies list.

Slender Man

The sixth in our best horror movies list is an upcoming American supernatural horror movie. Its director is Sylvain White and writer Victor Surge. The plot of the movie follows a tall, thin, and horrifying figure, Slender Man who is allegedly responsible for the disappearance of teenage girls. The movie will release on 24 August 2018 by Screen Gems. The cast of the movie includes Annalise Basso, Joey King, Javier Botet, Julia Goldani Telles, and Jaz Sinclair as the Slender Man.

Truth or Dare

From Blumhouse Production banner and Universal Pictures is coming to another American supernatural horror film Truth or Dare. Jeff Wadlow directed the movie. Its scriptwriters were Jillian Jacobs, Jeff Wadlow, Chris Roach, and Michael Reisz. The cast of the movie includes;  Tyler Posey, Lucy Hale,  Aurora Perrineau, Nolan Gerard Funk, Sam Lerner, Violett Beane,  Hayden Szeto,  Sophia Taylor, and  Landon Liboiron. The plot makes it quite interesting, which is why we had to add it to our best horror movies list.

The plot of the movie revolves around the game Truth and Dare. It turns deadly someone or something when punishes people for telling a lie or for refusing a dare by. The movie is all set for release on 13 April 2018 in the theatres nearby you.

Halloween

From Universal pictures comes a slasher/thriller film, the eleventh installment of the Halloween Franchise, Halloween. Directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green and Danny McBride. After forty years of the original movie, the director brings Laurie Strode face-to-face with Michael Myers.

The movie will disregard the previous sequels; it will be a direct sequel to the original Halloween. The plot of the movie revolves around the final confrontation of Laurie Strode with Michael Myers, after she escaped his killing spree on Halloween night forty years ago. Nick Castle and Jamie Lee Curtis will be recreating the roles of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, respectively. The rest of the cast includes Virginia Gardner, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak. The movie is all set to release on 19 October 2018 in the theatres near you. Halloween is eighth on Lifestyle Glitz’s best horror movies list.

Unsane

Number nine in our best horror movies list. It is a psychological horror-thriller movie written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer. Steven Soderbergh directed and edited the script. The plot follows a woman, who is involuntarily committed to a mental asylum, where she faces her worst fear and she loses her grip on the real world.

The movie cast includes Claire Foy, Aimee Mullins, Joshua Leonard, and Jay Pharoah. The movies premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on 21 February 2018 in Germany. It is scheduled to release on 23 March 2018 in the theatres near you. The movie has earned mixed reviews from the critics.

The House That Jack Built

Lars Von Trier is back again with a psychological horror-thriller film, The House That Jack Built. Written and directed by Lars, the plot of the movie follows Jack played by Matt Dillon, a highly intellectual serial killer, who have killed people over 12 years in US state of Washington and develops as a serial killer. The other cast of the movie includes Uma Thurman, Bruno Ganz, and Ed Speleers. The movie will release on 29 November 2018. So far, its performance in the Box-office is going good, but it falls at the tenth place in our best horror movies list.
