Do you remember Atari? It’s a Japanese company that created a gaming console back in the old days. It has a thin joystick and a single button. Today, with high-resolution audio/video output, internet connectivity, and artificial intelligence the gaming experience is a whole different level.
Massive online open world games truly bring gamers to another world. It comes a long way from the Atari joystick connected to a CRT TV. Modern gamers are asking for more immersion, realism, and epic storylines.
Storylines and realism are up to the developer. Immersion is something we gamers can do something about. Here are five gaming gadgets to maximize our gaming experience.
SteelSeries Rival 600
What is gaming without a gaming mouse? We have talked about lots of gadgets that would be awesome for specific games. But really immersive MMO PC games are played with a mouse.
The SteelSeries Rival 600 has no rival. It is the best gaming mouse on the market and EA sport community loves it, plays exceptionally well. Like all gaming mouse, it is comfortable to hold and very ergonomic. It has seven programmable buttons which are a lot, but not over the top. It also has 12,000 CPI TrueMove sensor. Yes, 12,000.
There are other stuff we could have that would help our gaming experience like the DXRacer Formula Series DOH/FH08/NO Newedge Edition. It will be comfortable, but it won’t truly add to the gaming experience unless you’re into simulators.
Acer Predator XB321HK Gaming Monitor
Visuals are half of the experience of modern gaming. The Acer Predator 3″ 4K 3840×2160 monitor is one of the best monitors out there today. Plug in three of these baby’s and you have yourself a portal to another world. The 10-bit IPS will make sure you have great viewing angles on all three.
4ms response time is a bit high for gaming, but 4K monitors and their high DPI’s is struggling to perfect this. It may take a couple of years more. Acer Predator has an NVIDIA G-Sync, so it would need NVIDIA cards to maximize its potential. It shouldn’t matter cause if we can afford this baby, we can afford a couple of 1080 NVIDIA cards.
If that’s too expensive for others, then look into the ASUS Designo Curved MX34VQ.
Samsung HMD Odyssey Mixed Reality Headset
Now, this is what I call a glimpse into the future of gaming. It’s not another Oculus Rift or HTC Vibe, It has better 3D holosets, better controllers, and the renowned Samsung screen AMOLED awesomeness.
It is the future of gaming, it is only a matter of time before someone of us gets stuck in Sword Art Online.
Thrustmaster T-16000M PC Flight Stick
Flight sim games are not as popular as they used to be. With the military concentrating on remote-controlled drones, the macho bravado of a fighter pilot no longer appeals to young gamers. Maybe they should remake the Top Gun movie.
The Thrustmaster is CHEAP. A joystick with a trigger, hat switches, pedals, throttle, bells, whistles, and magnetic sensors, all for $200. If you want an immersive flight simulator this one is for you.
Logitech G920/G29 Racing Wheel
Flight sims may have gone out of favor but the need for speed to be fast and furious have not. the G920 works with both XBox and PC. It lacks a few features compared to the G29, but that only works for PS.
It is responsive, it works smoothly, and have ample force feedback.
Conclusion
The best titles today are action adventure, fps, or MMORPG open world games. For that, we need screen resolution higher than our eyesight, virtual surround sound, and hardware that is faster than our brain pulses. We want a sensory overload. Its the only way to reach the level of “immersiveness” that only we gamers can appreciate.
