Whoa! I have to admit it. When I heard the news about the discovery of a 13th zodiac sign (Ophiuchus); I nearly fell off my chair! Hearing the word “Ophiuchus” instantly raised a number of questions in mind. Where, who, what how? That was my reaction and instantly, I thought, “I demand more details right away!” Just like me, I’m sure questions like “what to expect from the new zodiac sign”, “what are their personality traits”, and more are popping up in your mind.
The discovery of Ophiuchus happened in 2011. However, recently a debate grew around it. The debate was around what the personality traits of such people would be, and whether it’s a part of Eastern or Western Astrology. Naturally, we are all searching for more information surrounding this sign. As a general knowledge, you should know that it is nestled between the Scorpio and Sagittarius zodiac signs. One out of twenty People with their birthdays between November 30 to December 17 and carry this sign.
The confusion seems to arise because of the Western and Eastern astrology. The majority of us are more familiar with the tropical zodiac (Western), which revolves around seasons and doesn’t change. However, the sidereal zodiac (Eastern) revolves around the constellations, hence the discovery of the 13th sign.
Origins of Ophiuchus in Mythology
Unlike the other 12 zodiac signs, Ophiuchus is actually associated with “Imhotep”, a real person. Imhotep is famous in the ancient Egyptian history as a polymath who lived in the 27th century. Ancient Greeks knew him as “Asclepius”.
Asclepius in Greek mythology was the illegitimate son of Apollo and the mortal princess Coronis. He was famous as a hero of medicine and healing. The Ophiuchus Zodiac sign depicts a man figure with a serpent around him.
Positive Personality Traits of Ophiuchus
Among all zodiac signs, Ophiuchus, as mentioned earlier, is the only one that depicts a real man. Most people tend to be envious of the Ophiuchan as they progress well throughout their life. They are seekers of knowledge and wisdom, with a flamboyant sense of dressing. The Ophiuchus like bright colors and tend to be curious people. They are open to change, sometimes extremely jealous, but very passionate too. Ophiuchus people have good humor, explosive temper, tend to be secretive, egoistic, sexually magnetic, and have a thirst for knowledge.

As you can see, the Ophiuchus like other zodiac signs has its positive and negative personality traits. Most of us are still confused and distressed over this possible zodiac sign change.
