Facemasks Basics 101 – Simple Tricks for DIY Facemask

Facemasks are one of those things that are timeless. Fashion comes and goes but skin care is eternal. I am an enthusiast for skin care remedies in all honesty. I love treating my face but to be honest I have never used any face pack or creams for the matter. Instead, I use DIY facemasks. I am a big fan of home remedies and DIYs in all honesty.

Therefore, in honor to my lifelong habit, I present to you the basics of the art of facemasks. It is not difficult, certainly does not require too much time, 30 minutes at the most. Moreover, the materials are easy enough to get hold of, which makes my recipe convenient and affordable.

How to Make DIY Facemasks at Home

Materials:

  • Brush: A simple paintbrush is fine, one that is fat preferably
  • A small bowl: This is used to mix your ingredients together
  • Mirror: This is to see what you are doing
  • Moisturizer: After a facemask, the skin can feel dry. To handle that, we use moisturizer to keep the skin happy.
  • Timer
  • Old Clothes/Towel: Making DIY facemasks can be quite messy so using this prevents your clothes from getting dirty
  • Ingredients would be according to the facemask you want to make. You may need things like gelatin, cucumber, honey, lemon, turmeric, hydrating cream, ground walnut, etc.
  • Optional* Washcloth: This is to be useful for preparing your skin

You can choose recipes that suit your skin type.

How Do You Prepare For A Facemask?

First, you need to wash your face. You can do this with a simple face wash. I like to dip a cotton ball in rose water and clean my skin with it. You cannot skip this step. It is very important; trust me!

The next step is steaming the skin on your face. This step is optional. You can use steam on your face by boiling water and place your face in the steam while covering your head with a towel. Make sure the steam remain contained within the towel with your face facing the bowl of steaming water. Alternatively, you can dip a cotton cloth in hot water and hold it against your face until cools down.

Then you put a facemask. Place two slices of cucumber or two slices of potato on your eyes while the facemask does its work. After you remove it from your face, apply the moisturizer. This step is not optional for those face masks that are drying.

Can You Use A Facemask Every Day?

Now, they say that using a facemask every day is good for your skin but here’s the deal my friends. Your skin is different from everyone else’s. Therefore, for some people, a facemask daily is good for some it’s not. Trial and error can tell you which works for you best though. According to Viva Woman, DIY facemasks are quite safe for everyone. An easy way to test this is by simply using a facemask every day for 7 days and observing the results.

Now that you know these steps, sit back and enjoy! You may also want to know some beauty benefits of honey, so check them out.
