Historic Congressional Tenure

In 2014, Love made history by winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Utah’s 4th Congressional District. This victory marked her as the first Black Republican woman in Congress and Utah’s first Black representative. During her tenure, she served on the Financial Services Committee and was the sole Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Her legislative focus included economic development, education, and immigration reform. Despite her dedication, she narrowly lost her re-election bid in 2018.

The Battle with Glioblastoma

In 2022, during a family vacation in Puerto Rico, Love experienced severe headaches. Medical examinations revealed a brain tumor, diagnosed as glioblastoma multiforme—a highly aggressive cancer with a grim prognosis. Surgeons removed 95% of the tumor, and she underwent chemotherapy and radiation. Despite these efforts, doctors estimated a survival time of 10 to 15 months.
