Ancient civilizations and most modern families use honey as a sweetener in tea, coffee, and other beverages. Besides, it is not common knowledge that honey comes with some extraordinary beauty benefits. Bees work hard to collect nectar, resins, and pollen from flowers and work their magic to make honey. Honey is an ingredient that fights aging, moisturizes the skin, and helps the body fight against bacteria. Moreover, it is rich in antioxidants, has healing properties, and provides nutrients our body needs. Natural and raw honey (unprocessed) is what you need to find if you want to enjoy the benefits that it offers.

How to Use Honey for Beauty Benefits

Some of the ways to use honey for beauty benefits include:

1.      Moisturizing Mask

It is a natural humectant, which means it takes moisture from the atmosphere and absorbs it into the skin. It tends to remain in the skin layers to ensure lasting hydration of the skin.

2.      Pore Cleanser

Honey has enzymes that deep cleanse the skin, freeing the pores of dirt and bacteria. It has antibacterial properties, which when combined with coconut oil and jojoba help prevent bacterial infection in the skin. To make the concoction, add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or jojoba and mix well then apply a smooth layer on your skin. Avoid eyes and massage your face gently. After some time, rinse it with tepid water and see the magic.

3.      Gentle Exfoliator

The antibacterial properties of honey and the nutrients can help hydrate, nourish, and cleanse the skin. First, wash your face. Apply a concoction of one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of honey. Gently massage your skin for some time then wash with water. It removes dead skin cells, makes the complexion radiant, and promotes the formation of new cells.

4.      Scar Fader

Honey can lighten scars on the skin, which is one of its major beauty benefits. Moreover, it has anti-inflammatory properties that decrease scars by inducing tissue regeneration and healing. The hydrating properties of honey, mixed with those of coconut oil or olive oil help revive skin cell. Gentle massage helps increase circulation and recovery. The concoction with coconut oil or olive oil helps improve blood circulation. With a hot washcloth over the skin, it helps a lot.

5.      Acne Treatment

Acne is one of the most common problems people face. Honey alone helps thwart bacteria. Its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce irritation and redness too. Just dab it on the affected area, leave it on for 10-15 minutes, and rinse with tepid water. It will work its magic.

6.      Bath Soak

Honey has anti-oxidative properties too, which prevent skin from environmental hazards. Mix two tablespoons of raw honey in a cup of hot water. Once it dissolves well, add it to a tub of warm water, and soak yourself in it.

7.      Cuticle Moisturizer

Mix with one teaspoon coconut oil and one teaspoon apple cider vinegar and leave on for 10 minutes. Honey protects the skin and the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps soften hardened skin. A pH balance is great for the skin.

8.      Hair Conditioner

Honey has enzymes that are also good for the hair. They make your hair shine. When mixed with coconut, honey penetrates the hair shaft, adding more luster to hair. Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil with one tablespoon, raw honey. Apply on the hair and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it well.

Hair follicles need moisture for healthy growth. When mixed with shampoo, honey can help strengthen your hair. Try adding one teaspoon of honey to the shampoo you use, wash, and simply rinse thoroughly.

10.  Hair Highlighter

Honey has glucose oxidase, which helps by releasing hydrogen peroxide. This lightens the hair color. Just mix two tablespoons of water with three tablespoons of honey. Apply to your washed hair; let it stay on for an hour. Rinse well, and repeat this every week for great beauty benefits.
